Configure Default Notification Teams

Default Teams is part of the platform settings and lets SightLane teams create automatic people notifications for new monitors.  This is especially helpful for AutoCapture users (who are dealing with new and unexpected issues on the daily), but empowers anyone to be notified of new Events on the platform.

Go to Setup -> Custom Metadata Types and click 'Manage Records' next to the SightLane Setting type.

Then Click 'Edit' next to SightLane Settings to begin create a default team.  There are many different settings in this Custom Metadata record, but in this article we are focusing on the Default Team settings.

Go to the Default Team settings section.  These settings are optional and can be set up however you'd like, but they are an important part of noticing new issues in the platform, so they are highly recommended!

  • Default Team - A comma-separated list of Salesforce Usernames (not necessarily real email addresses) to which any default notifications will be sent.
  • Default Completed Email - If checked, members of the default team will be sent an email notification whenever a new Monitor runs and completes successfully.
  • Default Review Email - If checked, members of the default team will be sent an email notification whenever a new Monitor runs and completes but needs additional review (this is uncommon).
  • Default Failure Email - If checked, members of the default team will be sent an email notification whenever a new Monitor runs and experiences a Failure.  This is the case for most AutoCapture monitors.

When a new monitor runs for the first time, the default team will automatically be added to the new Monitor's Notifications setup.  These notifications can be changed at any time, for any monitor.  More on notifications in another article.

Default Teams helps admins and developers stay on top of what's happening in Salesforce and automatically draws attention to runtime issues that may need the team's help.  Not that we've got that configured, let's move on to the next topic!
