Introduction to SightLane for Shield

The SightLane platform already helps teams eliminate blind spots and empowers people to make informed decisions with confidence.  We do this by helping Salesforce organizations build visibility and responsiveness into any business process.  When it comes to visibility, though, perhaps no situation is more critical than security (and related) events.

With that in mind, we proudly offer SightLane for Shield.  It is an add-on to SightLane (a separate managed package) that exposes Salesforce Shield events to Salesforce teams in real time.  Specifically, it leverages and enhances the capabilities of Salesforce Transaction Security Policy Events to protect organizations from potentially dangerous situations such as:

  • A former consultant logs into production with an email not belonging to your company domain.
  • A user adds the "Modify All" permission to a Permission Set already assigned to hundreds of users.
  • A user downloads a file known to contain sensitive company information.

Since it falls under the "AutoCapture" feature of SightLane, everything happens automatically with no changes to your implementation.  SightLane for Shield captures event details and enables teams to take action automatically through the SightLane response engine.  Whether it's sending a quick email or automatically invalidating a suspicious user session, you can respond in real-time, safeguarding your data without distracting your team.

Set it and Forget it

Set up is a three-step configuration process that connects Salesforce Transaction Security policies with a Policy Evaluation flow (using settings stored in a Custom Metadata Type called "Policy Event").  The following articles discuss and demonstrate the configurations necessary to get SightLane for Shield up and running for your most critical events.
