SightLane Event Response Overview

Now that you know a few techniques for creating process visibility in Apex and Flows, let's move on to the next topic.  When an event occurs in your org, what should be done about it?  Whether it's an error, the completion of a batch job, or just a noteworthy event in the business, you may need to find a way to take immediate action, without being distracted from what you're doing.

That's what SightLane Event Responses are all about.

On the home page for any SightLane monitor, you will see a related list of Event Responses, as well as the "Add Event Response" button in the top right corner.  With this, you can design any response that you may need, from sending an email to executing a complex Salesforce Flow.

In addition to selecting the type of response that is appropriate,  you will also choose when the response will be executed, giving you greater control and flexibility in how Event handling is automated by your implementation.

  • When the event completes successfully
  • When the event needs review
  • When the event has a failure

Whenever that monitor is executed (whenever it generates a new Event), the configured responses will now also execute automatically, taking the first steps toward resolution on your behalf.  In some cases, Event Responses can take your "handling time" from hours of work down to nothing!

The next few articles will walk you through how to configure each type of response.

Happy Monitoring!
