Sometimes, the best place to notify someone is directly within Salesforce. For this, you will need an In-App Notification response (the little red bell in the top right corner of Salesforce). To begin, select the "Add Event Response" button from the monitor homepage and choose "Notification" as the monitor type. Then hit "Next".
Creating an In-App Notification response for a SightLane Event involves answering two questions. Who will be notified and what will the notification say?
Notification Recipient
- The Running User - When selected, the notification will go to whoever caused the monitor to run (usually the Salesforce user that executed the business process).
- A Specific User - When selected (as shown above), the notification will go to a specific and active Salesforce User record, chosen by the SightLane response designer.
Notification Content
- Standard SightLane Notification - When selected, there is no additional information to enter. SightLane will use default styling to generate the notification and send it to the Notification Recipient automatically.
- Custom Notification Content - When selected, the SightLane response designer will determine the title of the notification, as well as its body content.
The image above shows two different SightLane notifications. The first uses Custom Notification Content and the second uses Standard Notification content. Both are valuable and the choice is up to you! In both cases, click the title link (in bold above) to go directly to the SightLane Event record page, where you can read the event details to better understand the situation at hand.
