Introduction to SightLane

What is SightLane?

SightLane is a Salesforce monitoring and visibility platform. It provides real-time data regarding Salesforce operations and drastically reduces the time spent on issue research and error management.

"SightLane helps Salesforce teams build visibility and responsiveness

into any business process."

By creating transparency across business processes, SightLane enables teams to identify and respond to production events much faster than in traditional Salesforce implementations. It equips team members with the information to resolve issues quickly and answer historical questions about production behaviors.

What are the Key Capabilities?

Although SightLane has many features, they are organized into three logical products, as shown below.

AutoCapture

AutoCapture (as the name implies) automatically catches errors that might otherwise go unnoticed and unresolved.  For example, imagine you've built a scheduled nightly job that analyzes incoming Lead data and assigns appropriate new Tasks to Users.  Now imagine the job begins to misbehave and fail due to bad data.  How would you know?

AutoCapture is constantly "watching" these background processes.  It will identify the error, document the contextual details, and notify the right parties of what happened.

AutoCapture covers a wide range of situations, including Flow errors, scheduled processes, batch jobs, and more.  The best part of the AutoCapture tool is that it requires no changes to your existing implementation.  Once SightLane is installed and configured, error management begins right away.

Process Auditing

But visibility is about more than just catching errors.  Tracking complex business processes requires the ability to document logic and data as they flow through Salesforce.  SightLane Process auditing (sometimes broken into Flow Auditing and Apex Auditing) allows you to create custom, story-based logs that document as much or as little of a process as you would need.

SightLane comes with five Drag-and-Drop Flow components that help users capture the details of Flow execution.  Whether you're highlighting custom decision logic, documenting record data, or handling Flow errors, SightLane makes tracking flows easy and painless.

Got complex subflows or Invocable actions?  No problem.  Monitors can be designed to handle anything you can design.

For Apex coders, SightLane comes with a robust logging library that allows you to create any story you need to properly understand what is happening behind the scenes.

Track logic across Apex classes and transactions to ensure you are creating the complete history of business processes and user behaviors.

Process auditing is designed to help Salesforce teams create monitored processes that track all execution details and data necessary to capture, analyze, and respond to production events and fix errors faster.

Response Engine

The third major component of the SightLane platform is the Response Engine. The Response engine helps teams design and automatically invoke meaningful response actions to monitored events.

Responses are invoked only when needed and cover a range of capabilities, from simple email notifications to execution of any Flow the subscriber designs. Event responses can perform almost any action, from triage and analysis to dynamic issue remediation. With flow-based responses, teams can design self-healing processes for their Salesforce org, completely eliminating the need for manual intervention.

Summary

SightLane is a monitoring and visibility platform that helps teams create monitored processes in Salesforce environments. It automatically captures errors and allows teams to design their own custom process auditing as needed.  The response engine empowers teams to design actions that respond to production events automatically, reducing the time needed for manual intervention, research, and remediation.
